After a difficult Friday, the weekend looks more inviting!
Saturday looks as though the temperature will climb towards the 20degrees bracket, with a very slight wind, so i couldn't recommend more for anglers to bring along with them a reasonably paced sinking line. Medium-fast sink will be ideal. The trout will show themselves near the surface early morning and late afternoon more so, when the weather cools and the insects come out to play.
However the trout will still be there during the day, but much deeper if the weather is as forecast.
Flies for sinking lines! what works best at Curley's Trout Fishery?
- Cats whisker booby
- Olive nomad
- Orange/pink blob
- Zonker or a "Snake" fly (made out of zonker strip, but longer and with a single hook nearer to the "tail" of the fly, for excellent hook up rate!).
All the above flies will bring fish to the net if fished at the correct depth, alot of anglers flog the water with floating lines during the midday heat, and the trout will simply be out of reach of any floating lines around this time.
Remember - Suns out - So fish deep and kick the aggressive trout instinct into action, with a blob or general lure etc.
Sunday looks a little less inviting! (according to the not so accurate forecasters as of late).
Sunny spells up to around midday, and dark clouds taking over, and then eventually heavy rain from midday till 3pm.
Tightlines,
And don't forget to check the blog first thing, for the morning update to see the conditions etc.
