Pretty good day weather wise, fairly gentle westerly blowing over the dam wall towards the cafe.
Has been raining earlier in the morning but clear now. Still a bit of a nip in the air so wrap up warm.
Intermediate lines would be the preferred choice maybe with a team of buzzers or a bit of lure bashing if you wanted.
There have been some massive hatches of large buzzers over the last few days but not much surface feeding because of the water temp, currently only 4 degrees at a depth of 4ft. The fish will be feeding on these buzzers but at depth.
My set up would be intermediate line, 6lbs fluoro leader of about 16ft with 2 droppers and a point fly - droppers about 4 ft apart. The flies would be buzzers, one black, one olive and one red all size 10. Extremely slow retrieve only pulling about 3 inches of line at a time or a slow figure of eight. Then I would vary the length of time before starting the retrieve to allow the buzzers to sink to varying depths till I found some action.
I have lessons all day today but will try to update with catch info as and when I can.
