Nice day, overcast slight easterly wind. Lake virtually a total flat calm currently, trout showing all across the lake.
A lot of anglers having fish to dries over the last couple of days, therefore in theory the fish are close to the surface, which would make sense as the ideal water temp for trout is 11-14 degrees, and the top few feet of water is currently sitting around 12-13degrees.
Member Jim McGinley has done well today, 2 fish to a zonker pattern.
Mr John Whittaker has landed 3 fish to dries, and lost another few fish.
Tips for dry fly fishing, the trout will come up to take a well presented fly off the surface, dont strike almost immediately, wait for the trout to turn back down with its mouth closed before you strike. I.e count to 4 seconds before you lift your rod into a fine fighting fit trout.
The usual midge hatches taking place at regular intervals across the entire lake.
The odd small brown sedges showing themsevles, along with some large daddy long legs.
A angler approaching the water, a virtual flat calm and fish showing all across the lake!
Tightlines
